Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska Kearney women's golf team remained a shot off the lead after the second day of the 2026 NCAA Central Regional in St. Joseph, Mo.
The 18-team, 54-hole tournament is hosted by Missouri Western at the par-72 St. Joseph C.C. (5,938 yards). The top five teams, and the top two individuals not on those squads, advance to the NCAA Championships next week in Florida.
The 96-player field averaged 80.94 on Monday and improved to 80.04 today. Team wise, two were below 310 in round one with seven achieving that Tuesday. UNK carded a 310 on Monday and improved by two shots today (618 overall). They led for much of the afternoon, but Rogers State (617; 309-308) is now first with Minnesota State also a shot back. More importantly, eight squads are between a 617 and a 632.
Kansas junior Liz Lyons led the way in round two with a 2-over 74 (39-35). She had eight pars and tallied a birdie on the par-3 14th hole (128 yards). Next, Kansas redshirt sophomore Claire Berquist had a 76 (37-39) with Swedish freshman Pella Broms turning in a 77 (38-39). Berquist was one of three Lopers to birdie the par-5 6th hole (443 yards) with Broms managing seven birdies on the back nine. Finally, Minnesota sophomore Calie Dockter had an 81 (40-41) with Arizona senior Emmie Rhude at an 85 (40-45).
Freya Sala of Southwestern Oklahoma State leads the field (3-over 147) with two others three shots back. For the Lopers, Lyons is tied for fourth (151), Berquist is tied for 22nd (156), Rhude is 38th (159) with Berquist and Broms both tied for 42nd (160).
The final round begins on Wednesday morning.
