Grand Island, Neb. -- The City of Grand Island Finance Department will officially launch Citizenserve for online tax and licensing filings beginning Monday, June 1, providing businesses and vendors with a faster and more convenient way to submit returns and make payments online.
The new system is designed to streamline filing processes, improve efficiency and provide easier access for users managing local occupation taxes and related fees.
Citizenserve can be used to file returns for occupation taxes such as food and beverage, Conestoga Marketplace EEA, Northwest Commons EEA, hotel, rental car and cable. Vendors will also be able to file telephone franchise fees and tobacco licenses.
Returns for May sales, which are due June 25, will be the first filings accepted through the new online system. Any prior outstanding returns should still be submitted through the existing paper process. City officials encourage vendors to register for a Citizenserve account as soon as possible. Once registered, city staff will add the appropriate filing types to each account.
Vendors that already have a Citizenserve account with the city do not need to register again.
Each vendor must have its own account, even if one accountant manages multiple businesses.
Vendors filing multiple tax types only need one account.
Businesses that have already registered but are unable to file online after June 1 are encouraged to contact the Finance Department for assistance. For questions or assistance setting up an account, you can contact the City of Grand Island Finance Department at occtax@grand-island.com or call (308) 385-5444.
